A Wine Trail - Capital City-Central Ohio     The Capital City Wine Trail offers something for every level of wine lover. Whether you are just beginning to discover the world of wine or consider yourself a connoisseur, the wineries in the heart of Ohio will make you feel welcome.
What you will find at each location just might amaze you: friendly folks who approach their labor of love with a passion and an eagerness to share their knowledge of the historic profession of turning grapes into wine – right hear in Central Ohio.
At some of the wineries you will find acres of wine grapes In rolling vineyards that serve as a backdrop while you sip their vintages on nearby picnic tables. At others, you will find comfortable tasting rooms and perhaps a cozy fireplace. Some winemakers welcome you into their home for a sampling of wine and cheeses. At several, you will find unusual gifts and ideas for your next wine tasting party.
With each winery located within a short drive from Columbus, it is possible to visit two or three in a day and additionally explore the unique communities that surround them.
The wineries you visit along this trail all have one goal: to pour a wine for you that will become your next favorite. So, grab a few friends or visiting family members and begin discovering the wines produced in the heart of Ohio.

The winery is located between Dayton and Springfield on 10 acres of hilly glacial moraine, close to John Bryan State Park, Clifton Gorge and Glen Helen Nature Preserve. A small vineyard is currently growing Vidal, Cayuga and Seyval grapes. The current wine varieties include Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, Vidal, Cayuga, Seyval, Cherry, and Blackberry. All wines are handmade in small batches under the watchful eye of the winery’s Lil’ Olde Winemaker.

The winemaker and vineyard manager is an engineer and retired professor of engineering with long history of making award winning amateur wine. He loves to teach people about grapes, winemaking and wine tasting. So come taste the wines and enhance your knowledge about grapes, wine and winemaking.

The tasting room is available for private wine tasting parties, corporate team building or private parties. Cheese plates and appetizers are available in the tasting room.

We make our wines from juices that come from Italy, France, California and Australia just to name a few. From Dry wines to Semi-Sweet and Sweet, we are sure to have a wine that will satisfy everyone's taste. We even have Ice Wines that are sure to be a favorite! Come in and purchase our wines by the glass, bottle or case. Because we make all our wines at our winery, we are able to provide high quality wines at affordable prices. At Buckeye Winery you even have the opportunity to MAKE YOUR OWN WINE! After you've tried samples of our high quality wines and find one of your favorites, the process begins in our winery. All our wines come from juices so once you've selected your wine, yeast and other quality ingredients are added to the juice. We then continue to watch and rack your wine throughout the fermentation process. You are welcome to be present for each step or have us take care of each step for you. Either way, once your wine is finished (after 4-8 weeks depending on the type of wine) you return to bottle, cork and label your wine. You may also customize your label for special events such as weddings, anniversaries, retirements, business promotions or gifts. Or just keep your wine for yourself. Each batch you make will give you 28 to 30 bottles of great-tasting wine. Come make wine as a group or by yourself. But either way, come enjoy the Buckeye Winery Experience!

Shamrock Vineyard is located on Rengert Road east of U.S. 23 near Waldo, 33 miles north of Columbus. A Shamrock wine-tour begins in the vineyard, then proceeds through the wine processing area, and ends with a sit-down tasting.

Wine List:
Apple Wine - Our only fruit wine is a semi-dry table wine quite different that most apple wines, in that it is vinous in character, making it suitable for table use.
Series of traditional Eastern US labrusca style grapes:
Winsome - A mildly sweet white wine made with Niagara, Reliance, and select hybrid grapes
Rosily - Semi-sweet pink wine with a good balance made from select hybrid grapes with Concord and Steuben added to give it a fruity character and it's rosy color
Rurban Red - Soft sweet red wine with balancing tannins made from Concord and select hybrid grapes and fermented with the skins from Slate Rouge for color and flavor moderation.
Slate series are traditionally styled wines made from hybrid grapes:
Slate Gem - A German styled wine with crisp acidity in balance with fruitiness and slight sweetness.
Slate Blanc - This is a fruity dry white wine with slight oak overtones and an aromatic bouquet.
Slate Rouge - A soft fruity dry red wine with shortened skin contact time, cool fermentation, and no oak.
Slate Garnet - A full bodied dry red wine with long skin contact time, malolactic fermentation, and oak aging.
Our premium series are our best wines from vinifera and high quality hybrid grapes:
Premcess - A German syled white wine with more intense fruit qualities and a light spicy character.
Premblanc - This is a French styled dry white wine with balanced oak and with malolactic fermentation qualities.
Premblage - Bordeaux styled red wine with very long skin contact time and oak aging. Has a peppery character.
Premcru - Medium bodied dry red Burgundy style wine. Oak aged, but smooth with silky tannins.
Prembourg - Medium plus bodied, dry oak aged red wine made from Lemberger grapes, In Austria known as BlauFrankisch(Blue Frank)
Finale - This wine is made from late harvested Vignoles grapes, with a significant amount of botrysized grapes, giving the wine a honey, apricot, and pinapple character. Finale is sweet at slighly over 12% residual sweetness, but not syrupy.

Soine Vineyards grows 10 varieties of grapes spread out over two acres. We grow classic European varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Riesling along with French-American hybrids like Seyval, Traminette, and Chambourcin to list a few. Enjoy our contemporary tasting room while sampling our enjoyable wines.
We currently offer the following for sampling:

Cayuga White – Off-dry white wine with pronounced rose and grapefruit flavors.
Riesling – Off-dry wine with strong citrus and floral characteristics.
Nouveau – Light-bodied red with low tannin, cherry and currant notes.
Fusion – Light, sweet and fruity made from the Catawba grape.
Seyval - A full-bodied dry white fermented on oak. Reminiscent of chardonnay.
Chambourcin - A medium-bodied red with a hint of oak. Providing blackberry, cherry and strong black pepper notes.
Cranberry - A fruit wine with a nice balance between swee tness and tartness.

Soine Vineyards is pet friendly.
