Annual Industry Day - Ohio Wine Producers Annual Meeting (Replacing the Annual Wine Grape Short Course)

Saturday – February 20 10 a.m. Meet, greet and register 10:30 a.m. Targeting women consumers with an emphasis on social networking 11:15 a.m. Latest information on wine trends to watch from Neilson and the Wine Market Council Noon Lunch and networking 1:15 p.m. Customer Service and the upcoming ‘Secret Shopper’ program During the afternoon and through Sunday, industry suppliers will be setting up tables to share their knowledge and products with attendees. 2:00 p.m. A discussion on Ohio Wine laws and regulations led by Marc Myers of the firm Blaugrund, Herbert and Martin and Gary Jones of the ODLC – registrants will be encouraged to submit questions 3:00 p.m. Break 3:15 p.m. Wine Trail roundtables: developing a regional identity within the Ohio Wine community 4:00 p.m. Adjourn 5:00 p.m. Dutch Treat group dinner for those interested 7:30 p.m. A wine reception where winemakers meet, greet and share tall tales regarding their wines and grape growing adventures. WE ARE ASKING THAT EACH ATTENDEE BRING 2 BOTTLES OF WINE TO SHARE. Sunday -- February 21 9:00 a.m. OWPA Board meeting 10:00 a.m. Annual General Membership meeting. Open only to members 10: a.m. For non members of the OWPA: visit to Soine Winery, a 15 minute drive from our hotel. Noon Lunch will feature Nichola Hall from Scott Labs [one of our corporate sponsors] who will be discussing the latest in wine lab techniques. 1:15 p.m. A winery-grower roundtable to discuss mutually important relationships/contracting – an interactive session of winery professionals led by, Todd Steiner, Maurus Brown, Dave Scurlock of OARDC 2:00 p.m. An overview of the VEAP program, the opportunities presented by OQW program will share an exciting update on the association and Grape Industries marketing programs by Christy Eckstein of the OGIC. 2:30 p.m. Break sponsored by Scott Labs – thanks to Jeff Heacock, Nichola Hall and the Scott Labs 3 p.m. Developing a business plan for new and soon to be established wineries led by Maurus Brown. Concurrently, a discussion led by David Marrison, OSU extension agent, on succession planning for wineries and growers. 4 p.m. Adjourn The Dublin Embassy is located at 5100 Metro Place, 43017. ROOM RATES FOR THIS CONFERENCE ARE JUST $109 PER SUITE – HOWEVER, TO GET THAT RATE, YOU MUST RESERVE A ROOM NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 6. The hotel will be sold out, so if you are coming and need a room, do not delay. Hotel amenities include: Newspaper (Free), Telephone, Television (Cable/Satellite), Daily Maid Service, In Room Broadband Internet Access, Coffee Maker, Mini-Bar, Business Center, Wireless Access, Dining Room, Health Club, Hot Tub and Indoor Pool. To register for the meeting go to www.OhioWines.org and click on the icon on the front page to register. Or complete the form below and fax back to 440-466-4427 with your check or credit card info – if you mail a check, send it to 33 Tegam Way, Geneva, 44041. The first day is $75 and the second is $100 for at total of $175 for both days. The cost includes all snacks and day time beverages, the Saturday evening reception [you need to bring 2 bottles of wine to share], licenses, meeting materials and hotel meeting room fees. We chose the suite hotel so that wineries coming with up to 4 people could share a single ‘roof.’ Again, they have offered a $109 room rate if you register by February 6th. REMEMBER TO MAKE YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS ASAP IF YOU ARE COMING……..for a supposed bad economy, the hotel is very busy. Dinner on Saturday will be ‘on our own’ – but we are planning to make reservations for a ‘group’ gathering at a nearby restaurant if there is enough interest. When we get closer to the date, we’ll survey registered attendees regarding their interest in a group Dutch-treat dinner on Saturday night.
Please make plans to join us for this convivial and informative gathering of our grape and wine community. You can use it as a mid winter escape to a lovely hotel too………….
